New Year holidays are special for Japanese people. Most of them go to a shrine or, sometimes, a temple on the first few days of the New Year. They go there with their families. And they pray for their health, fortune, success in business, and so on.

People are going through the souvenir shopping street to the shrine from the near train station or parking lots.

I'm not sure our prayers will be complied by the kami (the Shinto gods) or the Buddha. But I feel refreshed and ready for starting new daily life, with some New Year's resolutions.

People are cleaning their hands and mouth, before they go into the main gate.
People are waiting for praying in front of the main shrine.
