The Iwatoyama Tumulus located in Yame city is a tomb of the third clan of Iwai family who have reigned over the northern Kyushu from the 5th to the 6th century.

        plane figure

It is the largest in the northern Kyushu with such interesting shape as square at the head and round at the rear. The sizes are about 18m high, about 60m diameter of the rear circle and about 92m width of the head.

Funerary statues unearthed from the tomb are worth seeing, which are shaped into humans and horses made of stone.
Please look up close at the great tomb tranquilly. Then you'll be wrapped in ancient air.
